![]() It is the auxiliary 12volt battery that handles the Ford Sync module, lights and also helps power a module that determines which engine to engage (electric or gas) found out from years of having to deal with the issues and having to troubleshoot the insanity myself. My car has been to the dealership over 40 times for issues with one of the two 12 volt batteries in the car. Have only owned Ford Cars and have always been a supporter…. Currently ~18,000 miles on it and have kept up to date with all oil changes and any/all planned maintenance. Mine is with a 2020 ford escape titanium hybrid.Ģ020 Ford Escape Hybrid Titanium AWD (HEV). I am seeing a common thread between all kinds of Ford Hybrid models (last 5 years) with the 12V auxiliary battery in the trunk and it seems like they haven’t resolved all of the issues. I think I've read that the Hybrid battery will charge the 12V if that makes sense. Once the car is started, however, all systems work fine. I think the 12V systems are still fed through the 12V battery but unclear. I don't believe the charging system tops off the 12V battery because it still dies even when it is plugged in. So they replaced battery because it was under warranty and called it a day.Įdit: Yes, I do keep my car plugged in overnight. I left it with Ford overnight and they did electrical tests and didn't find any issues. It definitely has to be some sort of parasitic draw because the battery dies frequently and I just got it replaced less than a month ago. The only thing that sometimes stays on are the lights on the Gear Dial. The only parasitic draw I can think of is the USB cable used to charge my phone. Edit: So your battery has never died? Also do you have a plug-in Hybrid?
